MMG 20th Anniversary Dinner 2014
Who are the Mississauga Master Gardeners
Mississauga Master Gardeners are a small group of roughly 22 members who share a common love for all aspects of gardening and a desire to share their knowledge and expertise with the community. We meet once a month on the second Thursday of each month. We volunteer on a regular basis in various projects that have in common sharing our experience on gardening with our local communities and giving advise on a myriad of gardening issues.
We are fortunate in having many opportunities available to serve the public: Canada Blooms, Successful Gardening, CNE and Fall Home Show are major events we actively support every year, as well as the newly established Zoomer show and Garden & Floral Expo.
Our volunteer year begins in January with regular Sunday afternoon advice sessions during the winter months at the Centennial Conservatory in Etobicoke. We also participate actively in Seedy Saturdays in Mississauga and Brampton. We hold annual plant sales at The Riverwood Conservancy in May and September. Mississauga Master Gardeners participate in both Canada Blooms and the Garden Show at the CNE.
Our close association with The Riverwood Conservancy offers tremendous potential for volunteering in an established garden and teaching program. We have also provided advice clinics for the Applewood Garden Club and Credit Valley Conservation (CVC)
Our members frequently speak at community events, library meetings, horticulture and gardening shows and are available to do clinics and workshops at garden centres and nurseries in the area. If you would like more information on joining us or booking a speaker, please contact us!
